Thailand with the missus..
Bit like coals to Newcastle I know, but want to take the missus to Thailand in January and I’m after an upmarket beachfront style place etc but want to keep away from the usual places full of hookers, pissheads and back packing tree hugging wankers.

Seen a lot of posts on here about the place, and travelled there myself back in the day through work & had a blast, but no idea what it’s like now.

Reccomendations, places etc would be appreciated.

Fill your boots.

COYFI’s!

Absolutely lovely, great staff and area.
Get a beach front jacuzzi villa and you won't regret it.
Got a long road of restaurants 5 minutes up the road with a great choice....so if you want to get away, chill this is a great place.

He doesn't want to be near brasses and you recommend pattaya? You could get a dose looking out the window of you're hotel!!

Royal Phuket Yacht Club is a good shout but is currently closed for renovation.

Having stayed in quite a few the one I would heartily recommend is Le Meridien in Phuket.

Great hotel and has the unusual benefit that it has it's own private beach. This is a MAJOR benefit as it means you won't be pestered on your sunbed by people trying to sell you things every 2 minutes (literally). I would go there again for this alone.

Also, whilst it's very quiet and peaceful itself, it's only about 10 minutes away from the main centre of life in Patong, which makes it easy to dip in and out of.

Enjoy!

Re: Thailand with the missus..
Yeah I think you'd be better off giving pattaya the biggest wide berth known to humanity! Probably the sleaziest place on earth!

As Defjam said Koh lanta is a lovely island, nowhere near as commercial as Phuket & Koh Samui yet, plus you can do the islands around Krabi If you fancied a excursion, about a hour from lanta to Krabi & some of the islands are beautiful.

Also if you wanted to try somewhere even less commercial you might like Koh Lipe, it's a little island in southern Thailand close to the Malaysian border, the beaches are beautiful & the waters crystal clear, plenty of restaurants on the beach in the evenings & got a nice chilled out vibe to it (not a brass in sight!)

If you wanted somewhere even less commercial then you could try Koh Kood, again another beautiful Island off the beaten track, stunning beaches against amazing backdrops, not a lot to do their (at least their wasn't 5 years ago when I last went) but if you wanted chilled then it could suite you? Just make sure you get a good resort on one of the better beaches. Only downside is the traveling to it, it's not far from Cambodia, best go from Koh Chang & maybe have a day or two in Koh Chang to break it up a bit.

Other then those, if you wanted somewhere nice but still got a party scene going on, then you could try Koh Tao, again another lovely island with lovely beaches but got a fair bit to do their. It's got quite commercial now but still worth a visit & the scuba diving is excellent.

Me and Mrs V stayed here for 4 nights, was lovely. Nice village down the beach too, then moved back to Koh Samui. Get the hotel speedboat to travel in style too.

Koh Tao will be very quiet after the rape and murder of British tourists

Depends on how long he's going for , whether he wants to be getting another flight from Bangkok. Naklua (North Pattaya)is very quiet and where many expats live but only a 5 minute Baht bus ride from the madness of central Pattaya and an hour and a half drive from BKK.

Phuket imo is finished

Have any of you lot actually been to Pattaya, The madness is there if you want it , but its quite easy to be either North or South Pattaya (Jomtien) and be in a quiet spot. I know people who have lived there for years and don't even drink

Worst thing about Pattaya, and Thailand in general, is that there's loads of Russians..

I did wonder how long it would be before Northern Sold chipped in with his usual shit.
I remember him saying his daughter was talking about going to Thailand on holiday and him and his missus weren't happy about it!
I hope your daughter doesn't turn out to be a boring cunt like him and his munter wife.
